Do we need Religion?

Do we need Religion?

No

Why? Let me tell you a story first.

So I used to study in one of the most esteemed school of our town, St Joseph’s School.

So as every school we have 4 houses Terristreans, Astros, Biogens and Marines.

I was in the house of Terristreans and though I wasn’t much in co-curricular activities but I could always sense an on growing tension between Teristreans and Astros like Gryffindor and Slytherin. We always used to hate each other’s houses and their student of course but all this tremendous pressure was released in the annual day aka “SPORTS DAY” of our school.

But one fine day in the “INTER SCHOOL COMPETITION” one of the student of our school (Lets say his name was Harry) was competing against a student from other school and though Harry was from Astros, each and every student of our school was cheering for him, including me. That day I realized something, the Terristreans and Astros weren’t enemies anymore. We all focused to defeat the other school any way possible. Our individual house irrelevant and we all were Josephites (one who studies in ST JOSEPH’S SCHOOL) for a while.

This story gives me an idea, well a really good one.

We always have boundaries among us starting from ascending order,

Our individual Personality,

Our Parents,

Our Brothers and Sisters,

Our Friends,

Our Relatives,

Our State,

Our Country,

Our Continent, and the list goes on and on,

And it ends with our Religion.

No matter in which state or county you live, you can always differentiate people based on their religion. Well you can also differentiate people based on their ideologies but even your father and you can have different ideologies and it won’t distress your relationship. But dividing people based on their religion is easiest and you can stuff hatred among them faster than you can wink.

Trust me I am from India. We Indians have always been divided based on our religion from Britishers to our politicians.

People who say religion gives them hope, spirit or peace are all bunch of lunatics. Religion has and always been a source of hatred and division. It can never establish unity and peace. Ask a guy who is very religious, why does he do this? His answer will be quite simple, if he won’t either he will be burned in hell or he fears God aka his maker.

So what should we do, simple we should create a new boundary and a much larger one and it’s called science. Just imagine if Thanos really comes to earth, what will we do? We will fight together to protect our race. If we find a wormhole we all human beings will together want to know what’s inside it. Science will be like the connecting point of our race and as far as I know there is no end to the wonders and miracles of science.

And why we will hold on to it for a long time because as Thomas H. Huxley rightly said “The man of science has learned to believe in justification, not by faith, but by verification.”
